The FIRST STEP is to select a direct or external replacement Option to use on this Column
Click in the Image on "Next - Back" or "Save" or "Cancel" to Navigate
(depending on the operation selected the relevant entry fields will open up for you)
- Direct replacement : Fill in the values to 'search for' and to 'replace with' on this column's existing value (STRING)
- External "grouped" replacement : You can also use an external replacement table to perform the 'Search' and 'Replace' option on multiple values (STRING)
- No case sensitivity : (unhidden if "external table" is selected) Check this box to perform the 'Search' & 'Replace' option in all cased values
The NEXT (combinable with conditions) or LAST STEP is to click on the "Next - Back" button or on the "Save" one
Example of "Grouped" Search and replace table :
in this example the external table is used to CLEAN the source by replacing the "search" values with nothing (deletes those strings)
you could also use a more conventional type of "grouped" values like for example searching for "Mister" and replacing it by "Mr" |
